The other day I had the TV on Fox News and overheard them talking about a new study that showed men were more attracted to women showing 40% skin.
The segment was very brief, but basically said the study showed that women who exposed only 40% skin attracted more men then those exposing more.
They also said that the women showing more skin were looked at as being unfaithful. While the 40% were not.
So that got me thinking: Could this be accurate?
Absolutely! But there are two situations that you have to look at.
Say, for instance, that we are all at the club having a good time, and tossing back some shots. In walks a pretty girl wearing designer skinny jeans, open toe heels, a sexy-but-classy sleeveless top, and all the right accessories. What is going to happen?
Well, for starters, all the guys will give her a look and most of the girls will too. The guys will check her out but pretty much leave it at that. Why? Because they are waiting on the girl who shows up to the club in the skimpiest dress that makes her cooch hang out, with hopes of getting laid.
The girl wearing the skimpiest dress unfortunately has become stereotyped as the “club slut”. Be around a group of girls when she walks in the club, and I can guarantee you at least one of them will call her a name. She may not be a slut at all. She may just like wearing those kinds of outfits, and that’s ok. Us men are not going to complain. But for the most part, guys expect a girl like that to give it up later that night.
In that situation the 40% girl got a look from all the guys but wasn’t approached. It’s probably because they don’t expect her to be naked at the end of the night. It would probably be more of a challenge, and after 4 Long Islands and a few shots, most guys want it easy.
But the 40% girl is not out of the running. In a different setting, like a get-together, she would probably get all the attention. She would be looked at as the kind of girl one could take home to meet Momma. You wouldn’t really take the “club slut” to meet Momma right?
I think the study is accurate in a broad sense. Girls exposing 40% or more skin unfortunately fall into the category of being sluty, or unfaithful as the study suggests. Girls exposing just enough skin are looked at with more class and respect. But again, I think it all depends on the situation too. A Night Club and a Get-Together are two different situations.
Wanna get a man and hang on to him? Maybe show a little less skin.
We are by all means not saying that you shouldn’t wear those skimpy dresses.
I totally agree with this. Personally, in either setting, I would feel more comfortable in the “designer skinny jeans, open toe heels, a sexy-but-classy sleeveless top, and all the right accessories” outfit. I have never been the type to ‘let it all hang out”, but don’t judge the girls that do. That’s why there’s all types of different fashion. Hey, if you feel comfortable wearing that, more power to you! I do agree with the statement that this could go either way in two different situations though. It is unfortunate for both types of girls to have the stereotype against them. The girl who is dressed classy in the club may be the sluttiest girl there, but the girl in the skimpy dress may be the classiest. So guys, don’t always think that you’re going for the easiest scenario, because you may be up for a challenge!
