Album Review: Jason Derülo (album)

Jason Derülo (album)… I don’t even know where to start. After hearing the smash single “Whatcha Say” which peaked at number one on four different charts around the world, including two here in the United States, I figured this album was going to be something special. I was completely wrong!

The album didn’t suck by any means, but by the third song I started feeling like I kept hearing the same song over and over again. When I did a little research on the projects I found something that strengthened my claim: the entire album is produced by one guy, J.R Rotem. From tracks 1-10, and in addition to three bonus tracks, every beat and song was produced by the same guy. Now don’t get me wrong there are producers out there who can pull this off; Dr.Dre ,Timbaland , Kanye to name a few, but it didn’t work on this project.

I’m sure the ladies will probably like album, but from a male’s view there’s only a few artist out there who actually get spins in our whips. I personally will listen to R.Kelly, The Dream, JT, Usher and even Chris Breezy in my car , but I can’t see fellas riding to this in their car. The guy can sing, he has the look  (no homo), so who knows what the future holds for him.  Over all the album didn’t suck, yet it was far from a classic, but don’t take my word for it go out show support and buy the album.

One producer? That’s like Roscoe Dash, he uses K.E. Don’t get me wrong, K.E. is a dope producer, but a lot of his songs sound like “All The Way Turnt Up”
