Turn your Facebook Page into a BandPage with RootMusic

Lets be honest…you are probably on Facebook more than you are on Myspace these days right? Granted, for all you Artists out there Myspace still plays a dominant role in your networking because of the ability to show off your music. Well, RootMusic has just come out with a new way to turn your Facebook page into a BandPage!

It’s actually a pretty easy and simple thing to implement. To start using the service you go to RootMusic and login with your Facebook ID. This is an awesome feature because you don’t have to sign up for another service. Plus they are going to need to connect to your Facebook page anyway.

Next, you will be able to view your RootMusic band page and begin. On your Band page you will be able to add music,  and edit your Band profile information. There is also a cool way to let Fans contact you through email, Facebook messages and by Phone.

One of the biggest features that is not implemented on some of the other social networks is the ability to allow fans to download you songs. Most indie artists are not selling their music, and just want people to listen. RootMusic allows you to choose whether or not people can download your music, for Free!

Another feature is that you can add/edit Show information so all your Fans can stay up-to-date with what you got going on.

The last thing they have implemented in the Twitter Feed. Twitter has definitely become a way to stay connected with fans and promote up coming events. RootMusic makes it easy to display all your Tweets on your BandPage by simply entering your Twitter User Name. That’s it!

Now once you are done adding songs and info, you can export all that to Facebook. There is an export button on the RootMusic BandPage. What you basically do is make the BandPage a tab on your Facebook Profile. Don’t worry, there are more detailed instructions on RootMusic… After you have successfully added the BandPage to Facebook there is an option to make it your default landing page so when someone visits your page they can hear the music first!

Now there is just one other thing that needs to be addressed before you go off creating your BandPage. Do you use Facebook to reach your audience? There are many artists that I know and am friends with on Facebook that do not use Facebook for promoting. They use it to keep in touch with people and keep it more personal. That is totally fine!

But for those of you who have Facebook Pages, and not basic profiles, this could be a really good feature to add. People who become your Fan on Facebook obviously do it for a reason. Why send them to Myspace to listen to your music when you can now keep them on your Facebook page longer.

This option might not be for you, but for those of you who do implement this feature, drop us a comment so we can check it out.
