I received this project back on March 15 , the first time I listened to the project I had my pod on shuffle so I couldn’t really determine if the project was nice or border line whack. That’s one of the main reasons I don’t really care for iTunes, because of the simple fact that the listener can’t see the full picture the way the artist intended it to be. Needless to say, when I listened to Mission to Marz from the beginning I enjoyed the project.
This mixtape is different. It’s not your typical mixtape with the Dj shouting all over the record, nor is it a typical “one-region” sounding mixtape. Mac is from the eastern region, but if I didn’t have a little background information on him I wouldn’t have known that from listening to his music.
The mixtape, although different, I don’t see it for everybody. Now days it seems like everybody wants catchy music, even on a mixtape. Its not catchy, but don’t get it twisted, Mac Marz has lyrics, and to me lyrics out weights “catchiness” any day when it comes to rating an project. If we was talking about a major label situation that would be different, but over here on Skewln.com we respect lyrics.
Production and beats wise the project was okay, therefore when I brought everything together, overall the mixtape was nice. If I had to pick a favorite track off the Mission to Marz mixtape, I would have to go with a track called “Crown Royal”. Well, that’s probably because I was playing Call of Duty while I was listening to that track (sorry). Download the mixtape folks and judge the mixtape for yourself , I personally enjoyed it. We’re going to be keeping an eye on Mac to see if he grows or if he fades to black… Keep it locked

Damn straight Mac is a great w/ the lyrics.. Those and his unique style and delivery are what makes this dude one to keep an eye on.. He can meticulously kill his haters w/ a single 16.. Or he can have all the ladies wanting to meet him after the show.. Catchy is the suckers way to go.. Yeah, everyone wants a ready hit but if you can keep your audiences attention w/o a catchy hook or some lame a$$ dance/jig then you’re far beyond the “competition”.. Mr. Mike Real.. I normally see eye to eye w/ most things you say but I have to disagree just this once on something.. The beats are far beyond “okay”.. The the complex simplicity of the drum line in “I’m Nice” alone has got to have your ears perked up.. The westcoast Calaxin’ beat to “What About Me” definitely one for the books.. And don’t get me started on the entire approach of “Creepin”.. And he KILLS it on “The 1″.. Tell me he didn’t.. I dare you to.. lol As my girl Jill Scott says, “Everything just ain’t for everyone”.. This Mission to Marz is def something that you have to fast up and be ready for.. So lets see where @MacMarz takes us on the next go round.. As you said it will be real interesting to see just how much he grows lyrically because dude is ALREADY NICE!!
yeah the dude has lyrics for days..and while the whole mixtape may not be catchy, you can’t tell me that hook in “what about me” don’t stick with you…”got the truck he-man, that’s my battlecatt. The overall feel of the mixtape is one where he hits you from all angles. even seducing the ladies on tracks they probably shoudn’t even like, but that’s how it goes. I also feel like the production may be a little better than you gave credit to homie, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. And if you’re playing call of duty, then yes Crown Royal, Creepin, or The one fits……Looking forward to hearing more from him!
