This morning Notty Black’s manager, PL, sent out a tweet regarding “Freaky Song” on Serato Whitelabel.net.
As it turns out, Notty’s first single reached the number 10 spot for the week’s Top Downloads ending Sunday, May 30th.
This puts him in the ranks with artists such as T.I., Drake, and Sean Garrett.
For those of you wondering what Serato Whitelabel is, they are “a digital delivery service for promotional releases of new music”, according to the website. They are a source for DJ’s to get new music before others, and allow labels to submit their promotional singles to the right DJs.
Serato produces a popular DJ software called Scratch Live, and also ITCH. The submitted mp3 files are given a custom file format (.wl.mp3) that works with these two products. The extension plays at lower quality with an mp3 player, but a higher quality within Serato DJ software.
