Back in 1999, Eminem stormed onto the music scene with the hit single, “My Name Is”. While he had some underground success with “I Just Don’t Give A F@ck”, My Name Is was his first Main Stream single off The Slim Shady LP.
It is now certified 4x Platinum and has moved over 9 million units worldwide!
I remember when he came on the scene: To be honest, I didn’t really know what to make of him. There was no doubt that guy could spit out bars, but the single seemed a little corny to me.
When the album dropped I went out to f.y.e and picked up a copy. Completely blown away! Not only did you have tracks like “Guilty Conscience” and “97 Bonnie and Clyde”, but you had the skits, and most importantly, the ones with Paul Rosenberg. Hilarious!
Who would have thought back in 1999 that the guy who rapped about his crazy mother, and killing his wife would be the superstar he is today?
