Wouldn’t it be dope if you could win something just be spitting a hot 16? Well that’s exactly what Def Jam Rapstar and producers Cool & Dre have put together.
The “Hot 16″ contest gives you the chance to win a trip to the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards in ATL.
Back in June I did an article about the release of Def Jam’s Rapstar video game. It’s sort of like at-home hip-hop karaoke, but with a social networking twist. You select a song from the list, and as you rap the song, your game console’s camera records your performance. You can then edit and upload your video to the community.
Cool right?
Let’s make sure you understand a few things before jumping into the booth:
- The song has to right for TV
- No Sex
- No Profanity
- No Violence
I listened to the beat and it’s dope! It’s very up-tempo and has a club vibe to it. I’m sure most of the dope rappers will have no problem spitting a Hot 16 to this track.

All you have to do now is enter:
- Download the Hot 16 track “Epidemic” by Cool and Dre
- Drop your hottest 16 bars
- Upload your finished video on the page by September 17, 2010. BET has stated that videos cannot be longer than 2 minutes and can only contain you. So don’t have the whole squad in your video!
According to the BET.com Community, BET along with Cool and Dre will listen to the entries and choose the Grand Prize Winner.
Feel free to send us a copy of your 16′s, we always like to hear new stuff!

do yuou have to write a hook to it or no
I don’t believe so. I think they just want your best 16 bars. But throwing in a hook at the begininng and ebd wouldn’t be too bad.
They did give you a full length beat, and stated that the video could not be longer than 2 minutes. Hell, 16 bars is less than 2 minutes.
Hope that helped
Where do we find the beat?
