Nipsey Hussle Releases “The Marathon” Mixtape

After complications with his label, the soon-to-be-indie Nipsey Hussle has released some new material in the form of his latest mixtape, “The Marathon”.

It was released on his new website, IHussle.com, where the rapper explained to HipHopDx that this will be his new outlet for releasing new material, including new music videos and smartphone apps.

In the interview with HipHopDx, the rapper explained that he is “currently negotiating his release”, and isn’t pointing the blame on anyone in particular. Nipsey explained that some internal changes were going on at Epic Records, and that his plans are to return to his indie roots. [Full Story Here]

I like the fact that he isn’t blaming the label. That seems to be the go-to course of action these days when things go south. Sometimes it’s just bad timing or an artist may not “fit in” with the label’s direction. Whatever the case may be, it’s good to see Nipsey moving ahead. He has a new publicity team, Hoopla Media Group, and looks like a new outlook on his career.

Oh, and about the “shot at Dre”, the rapper has denied that the “High ‘til we die, so it’s muthafuck a Detox” line was toward the hip-hop producer. While I commend the rapper for clarifying that, it’s very hard to think otherwise. Anybody who is anybody thinks of Dr, Dre when you say the word “detox”.

I’m just saying….
