Skewln.com’s Mid-2011 Plan, Includes Interviews and Mobile

The first part of 2011 has flown by, and Mike Real has begun to take Skewln.com to the next level.

To the readers who have been with us since day 1, you might have noticed that Skewln is pushing out articles on a daily basis now (sometimes even multiple times during the day). That’s a big improvement on where we were only a few months ago.

We have built up our connections, and have continued to grow in our relationships with indie artists. So what’s next for the site?

Interviews

Interviews are something that Mike and myself not only like, but find crucial to an artist’s exposure. Sometimes reading “another” article about a rapper is boring, but an interview gives you a change.

Video is huge! And will continue to grow. Just look at how many indie artists have music videos now…. And face it, people love watching other people.

So, that’s where we are headed. More video interviews. I can’t give out all the details about how we are going to implement the interviews yet (people love to steal ideas), but trust me… it’s going to be dope.

Improved Mobile Web-App

I have always seen the importance of mobile users. When we first launched the site one of my to-dos was to get a mobile version of the site that was compatible with all the major phones.

I am always surfing the web on my DROID, so it was important for me to have the site accessible, and fast.

Here is a list of the Top 5 Mobile devices that access Skewln on a daily basis:

1. Android: 37.83%
2. iPhone: 35.49%
3. iPod: 12.24%
4. Blackberry: 8.25%
5. iPad: 4.54%

We have had a mobile version for months now, but I’m ready to take it further. Here some initial features:

• Web-App Mode : Allows the site to function like any other App
• Improved Design
• Better Video and Audio formatting for easy playback
• And possibly an iPad Version (maybe)
