Diddy recently did a backstage interview with KarmaloopTv while in the middle of his “Coming Home” tour with Diddy Dirty Money. The rap mogul talked about a few good topics, including his creative process, but the most important thing Diddy touched on, (to us), is the control new artists have over their own destiny in the music industry today.
In the interview, Diddy touched on artists not signing record deals right now, and choosing to “ride on the independent tip”. Diddy continued by saying the he “respects the artists have the heart to take risks, and roll the dice.”
When asked how he keeps his hear to the new music coming out, Diddy explained that he has always been a fan of underground hip-hop. After naming a few up-and-coming artists, he made it clear that there are artists out there that he is watching, but just not wanting to sign them, stating “everybody’s situation is different, times have changed, and artists now control their own destiny”.
The most important statement that the Bad Boy made was in reference to an artist’s grind, saying “they need to put more time into doing what they [are] doing now, and control their own destiny”.
