I have been watching the X-Factor since it aired a few weeks back on Fox. While I think all the contestants are talented, the show’s only rapper, ASTRO, stood out to me the most.
We have never seen a rapper on one of these talent shows before. And we have never seen one this good.
Last week I said that the young rapper was getting too cocky. His ego was starting to crowd the stage. Don’t get me wrong, you need to be somewhat cocky in the hip hop game, but straight up arrogance comes off stuck-up!
After being placed in the bottom 2 with Stacy Francis, ASTRO put the mic to his mouth and said:
“Yo, yo, yo. I really don’t want to perform. I feel like it’s unnecessary.”
After Simon Cowell and LA Reid had something to say on his “school-girl” attitude, ASTRO followed up with these remarks:
“No disrespect. If you want to put me in the Bottom 2, I don’t want to perform for people who don’t want me here, you know what I’m saying.”
What ASTRO fails to realize is that there are people who actually want him on the show. People are actually voting for him…that’s why he has made it this far! It just so happens that the rest of the contestants received more votes than him this week.
I initially thought “here’s a kid who refuses to rap something he did not write and can actually flow. He’s starting to come into his own, and while he might not win the whole thing…he certainly has a future in hip hop”.
Well, that all changed for me last night. ASTRO now falls into the “cry-baby” bracket with the other kids who show their ass when they do not get their way.
I understand why Stacy Francis got sent home last night instead of ASTRO, but I can tell you that if ASTRO does not straighten up, his days are numbered.
