Mike Real: The fans are anticipating the release of The New Drug mixtape, what’s your message to fans out there waiting on the project?
Kritikal: First I would like to thank the fans for showing an interest in my work. I appreciate the support more than try could imagine. But I’d also like to tell them to be patient. Good things come to those who wait. The New Drug’s release got pushed back because things weren’t right. When I put music out, I want it to be the greatest representation of my talent possible. I set a high standard for myself and the fans should expect nothing less from the KRT…
Mike Real: How many tracks can we expect on this mixtape?
Kritikal: Right now we’re looking at 12 tracks, but things change sometimes so don’t hold me to an exact number. I recorded a lot of music for The New Drug, but some of the music has been with held and put over to the side for an EP to follow the release of The New Drug.
Mike Real: Any big surprises on this project?
Kritikal: I’m not really one for surprises and if there was a surprise, it wouldn’t be one anymore if I was to tell you guys… But as far as Highlights go, I got a track produced by Grammy nominated producers The Buchanans (Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, T.I., Lupe Fiasco) featuring my homie Jesus Mi Amor.
Mike Real: Whens your next single dropping?
Kritikal: We are actually looking to have music hit the radio by Memorial Day Weekend. The track is called “Champagne” featuring Jesus Mi Amor. So people need to be on the look out for that…
